Projects

2. When I moved into our new apartment, I was thrilled to discover that we had built in bookshelves! The English major in me gave a little leap for joy. Here is how I decorated them. The lovely roses were from Scot (who else?). :)

1. This was one of our first projects we did together-- turning an old yucky chair into one we could use.

Scot and I had found a dining room table at a thrift store, and we were on the hunt for chairs to go with it. We had no luck for about three weeks; chairs are not cheap! Even the broken down ones at thrift stores seemed to be way overpriced because they were largely antiques. We didn't want those. Luckily, we found two of these at a thrift store, and because they were so gross looking we got them total for $10. Then, I had a gift card to JoAnn's and they were having a fabric sale, so we went and picked out a fabric to re-cover the chairs with. That was free! We did need to buy a staple gun though... Scot had fun going through the aisles at Home Depot with me to find one. When we got everything home, it was just a matter of taking off the staples on the bottom of the chair and re-upholstering it ourselves. Here is the end result!

Not too bad for a cheap chair!
